In Home Consultation

This is where handicrafting skills meet interior design. The ability to envision just the right changes you’re looking for, and personally create them by hand, is at the heart of our business. Our home visits are structured to more fully visualize your needs and ideas within the actual environment. It’s also the perfect opportunity to design a new blueprint together, integrating our fresh ideas with your ‘must haves’ and treasured memories.

Window Treatments

Pincushion Designs specializes in custom handcrafted window coverings and accessories, with an emphasis on repurposing cherished items for your newly purchased home. Perhaps your existing design has become mundane, but your investment in draperies, valances, panels, cornice boards or curtains is stopping you from making changes? 

Take heart - repurposing window treatments isn’t difficult at all when you hire an experienced handicrafting firm like Pincushion Designs. Smaller treatments can be reworked from longer lengths from existing window panels. The window coverings can be re-hemmed or reworked to enhance another room or a different residence. The size of the new windows to be dressed may present a challenge, but not one that we cannot overcome. 

Custom Bedding  

One of the most luxurious personal items you can have in your home are custom bedroom pieces. Choose from custom comfy linens, plump and airy pillows, duvets and bedskirts, box pleat valances, roman shades, hobbled shades, window dressings (see window treatments) and an upholstered headboard for your master bedroom and guest wing.  You know what you love, so why settle for less? We will embrace your favorite fabric choices and personal style, combined with perfectly coordinated color themes to create unique handcrafted pieces you’ll adore.  

Reupholstering Furniture

If your favorite piece of furniture has ‘good bones’ we suggest new upholstery rather than replacing the item. Maybe it was handed down from another generation in family tree; or perhaps you’ve always favored the piece but knew it would eventually need a facelift of some kind.

Light Remodels

If you’re ready for a brand new look, a simple transition may be sufficient - such as a fresh coat of paint in a different color.  Rejuvenating particular areas of your home or office is always a healthy change, and there are many options available.  Fresh color themes, textures, fabric changes, renewed wood surfaces, and even a simple alteration can put an entire new face on a favorite room (or entire home). Even new accessories, artwork or repurposing some of your favorite knick knacks or antique furniture into new utility may give a tremendous lift to your spirit!

Designing custom bedrooms and play spaces for kids is one of our favorite things. Children usually have very firm opinions of what they like, and what they don’t. They are passionate about possibilities and excited to be involved in the process.

It gives prospective buyers a comfortable viewing and ‘fills in the blanks’ for those who may be unsure of what they would put in the spaces. Staging services are also handy for owners-in-residence who want to enjoy a more functional and suitable environment; a better reflection of their taste or image.

Fine Garment Alterations

Whether your special occasion dresses are new or previously owned (such as homecoming frocks, prom dresses, wedding dresses; including bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses), Pincushion Designs will professionally alter them for you at far less than the fees from a dress salon. 

In-store designer alterations are expensive and can take your dream dress out of the running altogether. From simple hemming adjustments and repairs, to custom fitting your garments, we want to make sure that your heart’s desire is within your reach!
